About Me
We are creatures meant to dream, but life often takes its own punches, and swallows up our ability to do so. My hope is that all who enter counseling might have the opportunity to experience freedom, confidence, hope and rest. It is my honor to hold your story as we journey together toward the free, full life available. It’s not just a privilege for a certain few but a gift available to all for the taking.
Your first session
In your first session you can expect that we will spend a good chunk of time understanding the person of you. Who are you? What are your roots? What are you all about? Our journey continues with figuring out the roadblocks in between you and living your life to the full. Many times our stories are full of hurts, traumas and uncertainty. Though rewarding, this work can be some of the toughest in counseling. Taking this step is courageous and is one of the most life giving parts for me. It is a privilege to get a front row seat to people starting at some of the most challenging things and taking one more step toward healing.
Areas of Focus
I have specific training and experience in: incorporating Biblical truth into counseling focusing on issues surrounding identity formation when navigating a broken and fallen world, working with grief/loss, trauma, abuse, postpartum adjustment/motherhood issues, sexual addiction, shame/guilt, and family of origin story work. Most of my work is with kiddos who are verbal (2-5) and then pre-teens on up. I also see some couples on occasion.
One of the newer tools I offer is the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), a gentle, listening-based approach that supports the nervous system’s capacity to feel safe and connected. Many of us long to be fully present in our work, our relationships, and our rest, yet our bodies often remain on guard long after the danger has passed. SSP helps create space for the nervous system to soften, allowing us to engage life with greater ease and openness.
Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, SSP uses specially filtered music to support regulation and resilience within the body. I often incorporate SSP as part of trauma-informed therapy, or it can be experienced as a stand-alone service. Sessions may be completed in person or remotely, always at a pace that honors your story and your nervous system.
My hope is that through this work, clients find themselves more settled, more connected, and more able to live from a place of safety rather than survival.
