Trauma-informed Counseling

Natural ways to react to a traumatic experience

Many events in our lives can shake us to our very core. Whether it is the loss of a loved one, a near-death experience, or the acts of someone causing harm, you sense the shift from safety to fear. All are natural ways to react to a traumatic experience. Traumas range for each us from physical, emotional, and even to the spiritual parts of our being. The loss of safety and security in our lives can tempt us to isolate, to constant vigilance, or to dark thoughts.

Whatever impact trauma has had on you, our team of counselors are hear to guide you to find freedom and hope amidst the turmoil. Our team is trained in trauma-informed techniques and includes specialties in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Restoration Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and more. Our approach is two-fold: being with you in the here and now to calm the tumult, while also diving deeper to find healing from the inside out.

Whether you know now is the time for you to start therapy, or if you have more questions about if this is the right fit, we would love to hear from you. Call or email us to book your appointment or consultation.

I think you are precious and your story is significant—but it might not feel that way right now. In the midst of life’s struggles it is easy to feel burdened and disconnected. Many can become uncertain about their identity and purpose.

  • Nick Wood | College Station

    Masters Level Graduate Student

My name is Nick Wood and it’s a pleasure to get to be a counselor here in College Station at Rivers Edge. I’ve learned on my road of caring for folks that life is full of circumstances that can leave us feeling unmoored, adrift in a sea of uncertainty and doubt.
